These models were originally manufactured in New Jersey starting in 1969 (also available in kit form). The first releases did not come with ore loads. Production was eventually relocated to China (currently marketed under Atlas's "Trainman" line). Earlier versions came with Rapido-style couplers.
70-ton ore cars of this general type first started entering service circa the 1920's. I'm told that this model is based on a B&LE prototype (or at least that's what it's closest to).
