These models were initially imported by Revell (back in the 60's) and later on by Walthers. The former were packaged in "Revell-Rapido" boxes, whereas the latter were packaged in Arnold's familiar orange and white boxes. Arnold was acquired by Rivarossi in the 1990s, and this model was ultimately discontinued when Rivarossi went bankrupt in 2006.
The wheels are plastic and the couplers are body-mounted Rapidos. They are stamped "Arnold - Germany" on the bottom. The model is based on a B&O prototype.
This same bobber shell was used on Arnold's "Crane Tender" model -
Panamint Models makes replacement underframes for these cars. Based on Pennsylvania, NYC, Ma&Pa, and NYO&W prototypes, this design was first used circa 1875 and lasted into the 1930s -
